The launch of the first dedicated pharmaceutical
sciences conference and exhibition for the UK

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences proudly present science@BPC, the UK’s premier medicines discovery and development event; showcasing excellence in the pharmaceutical sciences.

This year your BPC science team is firmly focused on the diagnosis and treatment of disease and our theme is - Technologies for healthcare. Along with a number of specialist sessions, the conference will feature innovations in discovery, delivery and diagnostics aimed at three key diseases: cancer, infectious diseases and diabetes; diseases which continue to severely limit the potential of the human race, claiming millions of victims every single year. Knowledge is vital in tackling these devastating illnesses and science@BPC aims to give delegates a preview of the necessary technology tools for tomorrow. This is an event that every scientist and healthcare professional working in the field really cannot afford to miss.

In parallel with these featured disease themed sessions, there will be science at the cutting edge in the areas of:

Novel targets for drug discovery Transdermal delivery
  Natural product medicines Oral delivery
Nanotechnology for healthcare Point of care diagnostics
  Cell therapies

  Materials science
  Bioprocessing

and much much more.

A new feature of BPC 2009 will be a Question Time panel discussion; this year entitled What can pharmaceutical nanotechnology do for me? A panel of key opinion leaders from industry and academia will be on hand to answer your questions and debate the issues surrounding this white hot topic. We will also be featuring a lively debate called This House believes that medicines are too expensive which should lead to some heated discussions.

For those with a wider interest in pharmacy practice you will be able to dip into the practice sessions on Monday 7th September at no extra charge or come along to the Sunday sessions for as little as £20 + VAT.

There will be unprecedented opportunities for oral and poster presentations and so please submit your abstract no later than Friday 13th March 2009. And then of course there is the networking …. See you all in Manchester
